More on Toning: The ability to find and express your personal tone is immensely powerful because in doing so you can shift out of energetic blocks and illness through entrainment with higher level frequencies. The ability to match your tone, (the one that, when uttered, opens your heart and sends energy through your entire body) with a Himalayan bowl of the same frequency and play it directly on your body can release negative patterns, and open you to expanded consciousness and higher level energy. I initiate this practice only with clients with whom I have established a strong sense of trust because expressing sound in the presence of another person can summon up a strong inner critic... and that inner critic needs to be quieted in order for the client to produce the "right sound". When sympathetic resonance is achieved between voice and bowl and transmitted through the body it can produce great energetic releases in the psyche, body and spirit. One reader from the UK sent me a note about his experience with tones and chanting which I would like to share with you. I always appreciate your sending information and experiences to me so I can give it greater voice in this newsletter. He writes: "Having understood the importance of vowel sounds I appreciate the amazing qualities of Namu Myoho Renge Kyo - the Chant of the Lotus Sutra, the most highly regarded sutra by all adept Buddhists. I find it helps me in my everyday life. It contains every vowel sound, Ahh, Eh, Ee(I), Oh, Oo(U) like the Sanskrit pronunciation of the same chant Om Mani Padme Hung. That the same chant in two different languages of two different eras should contain the same sounds although in different quantities is mild coincidence. The chant has 6 beats pronounced: Nah moo - Mioh - Ho - Ren - Geh - Kioh The first two syllables count as one and the Ren is a rolling R. It takes a little practice but with a few minutes or an hour you would probably feel its effect. My friends like to chant before they heal so they can clear their minds and that of the space they're healing in. " Click Here

Sound Healing Tip Many people who have only one bowl ask me what they can do without an entire collection. Bowls are wonderful sacred tools, and having a large collection is truly a blessing. But much can be achieved with a single good quality bowl as well. I will discuss two ways to engage with your bowl here. Each of these simple techniques can be used on yourself and with others as well. More will be discussed in future issues. Please continue to send in your questions. Sitting quietly with the bowl strike the bowl and allow yourself to follow it carefully as its sound disappears. Make note of its tones vibrations. Then holding the bowl in your left hand strike it and pay attention to its changing sound/vibration as you: bring it to your heart, then your third eye, then your left ear, right ear and back to your heart. If there are changes in the sound pattern or tone, that is an indication that you can come back to linger in that area, striking or singing the bowl slowly, being in your breath and holding the intention of matching vibrations with the bowl.. until the bowls original tone is re-established and your energy is aligned with it. A powerful technique is also to match the tone of the bowl with your voice. A similar technique can also be used with clients starting with the crown and walking in a clockwise circle around the entire body listening for shifts in sound and then working in those areas until harmony with the bowl is established. This manner is best done with the bowl not more than a foot or two above your client so you will have to crouch or move on your knees. ( If you have 2 or 3 bowls you can keep working with them around any area of the body until their fundamental tones are in harmony with one another) ATTENTION: Careful not to overstrike your bowl. The focus is on your intention of bringing body and bowl back to harmonic resonance with one another. It requires you to listen and allow the tone and vibration to engage and dissipate slowly and for you to stay in your body... not your mind!! Also, remember to use both singing and striking techniques with your bowl.
