“ I love you so much.” These words, whispered to me on his death bed, were the last I heard as my father slipped into another dimension. It was the first time he had spoken these words directly to me although I had longed to hear them my entire lifetime. Before, there had only been a somewhat choked and embarrassed “luvya” at the end of phone conversations. Immediately something shifted within me and I knew his words would impact the remainder of my life. Now, “ I love you so much “ echo’s in my being, replacing all other voices that hurt, like a releasing into Truth. My personal joy though is in knowing that the journey was an alliance. With those words, spoken so simply, my father finally opened to a part of himself that was locked. In doing so he not only emancipated himself but gifted me as well.

During the Holiday season, consider our potential as Stewards of Peace. Let us take special care to use words and thoughts that inspire, encourage, and reflect the highest vision we have of ourselves and others. As we strike our Himalayan bowls, let us be cognizant that the energy their sound, (like our words) emits is infinite in nature; and that energy will alter the course of everything it touches throughout the universe. As we deliver “OM” (the sound of Creation and the Interrelationship of all things) into the cosmos through the playing of the sacred instruments, envision it as our contribution to Peace on Earth.

Q.In what way are the bowls teachers?

A. I think there as many answers to this question as people who play the sacred bowls. One such answer is that they were created as agents of change to transform consiousness from a Personal to a Universal Consciousness. Consider the Sacred Himalayan bowls as teaching the interrelationship of all things. Each of the metals that combine to create their magnificent harmonic tones has a specific frequency and tone that is associated with a planet in the cosmos. Each planet represents a range of socio/emotional/spiritual aspects that impact us and is also associated with a color. Each color also has its own frequency and influences us in a unique manner. The list is endless. Every attribute and aspect of striking a Sacred Bowl works in conjunction with and impacts other elements and none can function on its own. Thus the bowls teach us through their sound, elements and influences of the interrelationship of all things. In the next few issues we will explore each of the metals that make up the bowls in relation to their planetary association and color.
